“For more than half a century, the Competition founded in 1969 has remained the most prestigious international event in its field. It would be no exaggeration to say that it has long earned the unofficial status of the Olympic Games of the ballet world. This year, the strongest participants from 22 countries will demonstrate their artistry, including artists from the Republic of Korea, China, Italy, Türkiye, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, the DPR, and, of course, our outstanding professionals from Russia. This year we dedicate the Competition to the 95th anniversary of the Maestro. And today we will see the legendary ballet Spartacus by Yuri Grigorovich, whose premiere took place back in 1968.”

Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation

“There are many ballet competitions in the world, but the Moscow Competition stands apart. For me, it is associated with something exceptionally significant, powerful, and truly great, because the participants are granted the honour of performing on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. As we know, this stage demands a level of commitment unlike any other. To perform here, one must be prepared not only physically, but also mentally.”

Svetlana Zakharova, prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, Jury member

“I would like to congratulate the distinguished choreographer Yuri Nikolayevich Grigorovich on his anniversary. I have known him since 1980, when I first danced his Swan Lake. I would like to say that he was, is, and will always remain a great choreographer who taught Italian ballet art a great deal.”
