How to Pass Audition to World Best Theaters

On January 23, the Vaganova Ballet Academy held an international audition ‘The Ballet of the Future’ with over 60 participants from 20 countries, including Italy, France, Argentina, the USA, Ukraine, and Southeast Asian countries.

The main goal of the audition arranged in the Vaganova Academy is to provide young ballet dancers and ballet schools graduates with an opportunity to show their talents to artistic directors from leading domestic and foreign ballet troupes and start or continue their career in one of the theaters whose representatives are part of the jury.

This was the third audition. Representatives from the Perm Opera Ballet Theater and the Rostov Musical Theater as well as Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, and Samara ballet troupes directors came to Saint Petersburg this year. Besides, the first audition participants already perform on the most famous stages, which is the best proof of the project success.

‘The Ballet of the Future’ is the idea of Denis Matvienko, Associate Professor at the Academy’s Classical and Classical Duet Dance Department. He is an outstanding dancer and the only holder of four international ballet dancer contests Grand Prix, including Moscow 10th International Ballet Competition and Contest of Choreographers (2005).
