Creative Encounters at the XV International Ballet Competition

As part of the XV International Ballet Competition, a special educational programme will bring together lectures, film screenings, meetings and discussions with leading ballet experts and renowned dancers. Each day of the programme will focus on a theme of particular relevance to the art of ballet. The events will be open to participants, teachers, guests of the Competition and members of the public.

The opening day will be dedicated to the great choreographer Yuri Grigorovich. It will begin with an engaging lecture on his creative legacy and genius, continue with a meeting with artists of different generations who created and brought to life the characters of his major ballets, and conclude with a screening of the unique film Grigorovich: Yuri the Formidable.

On 30 June, the programme will be no less rich, turning to the theme of international ballet competitions. The day will feature a lecture on fascinating episodes from the history of ballet competitions and a retrospective of the Moscow Competition from its founding to the present day, followed by a round-table conversation with laureates of the International Ballet Competition from different years and an autograph session. The day will conclude with a screening of the documentary Empire of Ballet.

The events will be held with the participation of Ballet magazine and the International Federation of Ballet Competitions.
