The Exhibition Grigorovich’s Universe Opens at the Bolshoi Theatre

On 25 June, the special exhibition Grigorovich’s Universe opened at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia as part of the XV International Ballet Competition.

Organized in collaboration with the Bolshoi Theatre Museum, the exhibition is on view in the White Foyer of the Historic Stage. It invites visitors to enter the creative world of Yuri Grigorovich.

The display brings together more than 50 rare archival photographs. They include images from rehearsals with outstanding figures of Soviet and Russian ballet, scenes from Grigorovich’s landmark productions, and personal photographs that reveal the many facets of the choreographer’s personality. Rare posters for Yuri Grigorovich’s productions are also on display. Original stage costumes from legendary ballets occupy a special place in the exhibition. They evoke the atmosphere of historic premieres and bring visitors into direct contact with the history of ballet.

Grigorovich’s Universe is a tribute to a great artist whose legacy continues to inspire new generations of dancers and audiences. Guests of the XV International Ballet Competition will have the opportunity not only to enjoy performances by young artists, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the creative world of Yuri Grigorovich, whose vision helped shape the stature and spirit of this major Competition.

The exhibition will remain open until 5 July.
